Tyler Thornburg Promoted…Now Official but Not Where We Originally Thought
So remember the other day when Tyler Thornburg tweeted to the world that he’d be promoted to the Brewers’ Triple-A affiliate Nashville Sounds after pitching in the Double-A All-Star Game?
Well, he was 33% correct.
He was being promoted, that much holds true. Where and when, however, have taken a turn.
Brewers starting pitcher Shaun Marcum felt some tightness in his right elbow (pitching arm) during his between-starts bullpen session the other day, prompting the need for someone else to toe the rubber tonight.
Well, Tyler Thornburg will be pitching Tuesday night, but not in the Double-A All-Star Game. He won’t be pitching for the Nashville Sounds tonight either. (That start goes to Claudio Vargas on his birthday.)
Nope. Tyler Thornburg, all 6’0″ and 190 pounds of him will be on the bump tonight throwing the first pitch at (roughly) 7:10pm at…Miller Park.
(For more on Thornburg’s numbers at Double-A to this point on this season, scroll down from the main blog page.)
It might be for just one start before heading to Triple-A after all, as the team hopes that Marcum’s elbow tightness dissipates enough for him to take his next turn in the rotation.
For today, though, all congratulations should again find their way to Tyler!
To make room for Thornburg on the 40-man and 25-man rosters, Brooks Conrad has been Designated For Assignment.
