Brewers, Hardy Again Avoid Arbitration
The Milwaukee Brewers have avoided an arbitration hearing with J.J. Hardy for the second time by agreeing to a one-year deal worth a reported $4.65 million. If accurate, this would represent a raise of exactly $2 million for the starting shortstop. This in no way prevents the Brewers from negotiating a long-term extension for Hardy, but it would appear to those watching that Milwaukee prefers to go year-to-year with Hardy because of the probability that they've got a ready replacement in Alcides Escobar should they ever want to trade Hardy.
Regardless, with any new contract, the question becomes:
Do you think he's worth that contract?
